My daughter is a drug addict

Wow! Where do I begin? I've just gone public with this secret that has been in our family for a couple of years. Well, perhaps the actual "secret" hasn't been in the entire family all this time. My daughter has known and kept it a secret - she still denies the length of her addiction. Her parents, and perhaps her brother, have been sure of it for 5 months, but have been actually dealing with her addiction for years. Our extended family has only known for a few weeks or days.

No one truly knows the depth of this addiction, even Stephanie, who is still in denial. Or, perhaps she's not in denial. Perhaps it's just part of the constant lies that come out of her mouth. That's what addicts do. They lie. About everything. Even when it's not related to their drugs.

I'm starting this blog because this is a national addiction, not just Stephanie's. Addiction is not just within the families, who feel so degraded, embarassed, ashamed, angry, violated, I could go on and on with the feelings associated with being the "loved one" of an addict.

I feel it is time to stand up and empower parents of drug addicts. We need to become informed, encourage each other, take control to whatever extent we can, pull our heads out of the sand and take action!!! Our pitiful law enforcement cannot do it. I'm not saying pitiful because I don't like what they are doing, but only that it is soooo out of control, that they have become powerless against the drugs that are being imported, manufactured, distributed, sold and used in this country. I want to help. So, what can one person do? Join the WAR ON DRUGS!! Get people involved.

Please tell all your friends about this blog and let's get our minds working together. In the future, I will start setting up links to provide information that I find on this subject, and tell you more about our story.

Yes, Steph, if you read this, I'm going public. I'm sick of keeping this secret about you for fear that it will hurt your reputation. I don't want anyone to trust you right now, because the person that you are is likely to only take advantage and steal from anyone you come across. I want to warn them about you, and prevent them from becoming a victim of your addiction.

More, later.......
